What is a Word Geek?
Word, n. – a single distinct meaningful element of speech or writing.
Geek, n. – a person who is knowledgeable about and obsessively interested in a particular subject.
How I Became a Word Geek
It all started when I learned to read as a pre-kindergartener. Then I really picked it up through osmosis, because my dad was a word geek, too. My love affair with the written word carried through my teen years as I filled notebooks with stories, knocked out papers in college, took stabs at blogs, and even wrote years worth of sermons during my stint as a pastor. Words and writing have been a constant through the ups and downs of my life and a journey I never plan to stop.
